Save Nevada Now

Save Nevada Now . Com (SNN) is composed of student volunteers who want to help address the issues of the environment, growth and overdevelopment in Northern Nevada. While started at Galena High School, it welcomes members from all area high schools and colleges. It has a number of organized activities and lobby efforts available to interested students. SNN works with other groups who seek similar goals in Nevada.

Citizen Alert, a Nevada-based grassroots organization focuses on the issue of storage of nuclear waste at Yucca mountain. STAND (Students Take Action for New Directions) targets various issues, including public health, education and community issues. Other groups include the Sierra Student Coalition (SSC), which is the student arm of the Sierra Club. It helps organize the Sustainable World Symposium and Festival, an event which conferences annually on the most critical global issues, solutions and actions.

The Nevada environment has never been under more stress. The state has for some time outpaced the national growth rate. And the Nevada State Demographer's Office projects a population growth of more than 1.8 million by 2026, or 74%. The dynamics of this changing population and demographics will offer many challenges. The more motivated volunteers that participate means a more effective voice and meaningful actions on the pressing needs of the day. We have a great deal of fun, and it's a great way to make new friends. Sign Up Now! Email us at info@SaveNevadaNow.com
